This 1.5 hour class addresses the unique challenges for women in the fire service and offers new skills to support strength, resilience, and personal agency. Attendees will learn how neuroscience observes the impact of stress and the effects of yoga on the brain and body.  After a 25-minute data-packed presentation, attendees will get on their yoga mats and experience a 45-minute yoga class designed to integrate mind, body, and breath. After the yoga class, there will be time for Q+A and discussion.  This workshop will teach the measurable impact of mindfulness and breathing exercises to decrease the impact of chronic stress.

This 1.5 hour class begins with a 25-minute data-packed presentation on the physical and mental effects of hardcore physical training and the need to counterbalance. While instrumental in building strength and endurance, intense workouts can lead to reduced flexibility, high cortisol levels, and an increased risk of injuries. FireFlex Yoga offers a powerful yet gentle antidote to these challenges and supports firefighters with enhanced focus, reducing stress, and promoting a sense of tranquility, fostering mental resilience in the face of challenging physical endeavors. Incorporating yoga into a hardcore training regimen goes beyond the physical realm. It’s a wellness imperative and addresses the mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of fitness.

After the presentation, attendees will get on their yoga mats and experience a 45-minute yoga class designed to integrate mind, body, and breath. There will be time for Q+A and discussion at the end.
